Releasing Pain: 4-week Group

Releasing Pain is a four-week group with Tyler Orr, LPC/MHSP, and Janka Livoncova. The program focuses on changing your relationship with pain by increasing your capacity to be present in your body, and accessing your body’s innate ability to release stress, tension, and pain.

In addition to weekly two-hour classes, the program includes guided audio and video exercises that will be yours to keep. The number of participants will be limited to 15 to ensure that individualized attention is given to each person and to create a more therapeutic environment.

Group Intentions and Goals:

  • Change your relationship with pain
  • Understand the components of the pain experience
  • Increase body awareness and capacity to be embodied, present, and aware of sensations
  • Increase acceptance and receptive awareness of sensations
  • Understand from direct experience the changing nature of sensation, including pain and the entire human experience (sensations, thoughts, and emotions)
  • Access your body’s ability to process and release stress, pain, and tension
  • Increase resilience

Mindfulness for Beginners 4-Week Course

Have you heard enough about the benefits of Mindfulness to convince you to try it? This class is the perfect introduction for you! Mindfulness for Beginners is a 4-week workshop covering the basic elements of mindfulness meditation in a relaxed and no-pressure environment.

Participants can expect short instructive talks, group discussion and interactive mindfulness activities, including guided meditations. Each week a different aspect of the four foundations of mindfulness will be covered and you will be given practical ways to incorporate them into your daily life.

Cultivating the Heart of Love: 4-Week Loving Kindness and Compassion Course

Mondays 6 – 7:30pm on 1/22/18, 1/29/18, 2/5 & 2/12
at the Center for Mindful Living
Fee: $80 members, $85 non-members  

This 4-week course will focus on the practices of Mindfulness, Loving Kindness and Compassion. You will learn the formal meditation practices that develop these qualities. You will also learn about their practical applications in your life including your relationship with yourself and others.

Each class will include guided meditations, instructive talks and a group discussion. Every week your will receive an email with homework suggestions to help you incorporate and skillfully apply the teachings and practices covered in the class.

It is recommended that participants have completed Mindfulness for Beginners, MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and/or have a personal meditation practice prior to attending this offering.
